David partnered with Idea Store Canary Wharf in exhibiting his artwork. This was a free event open to the public throughout the month of February, in celebration of the Chinese New Year. David was also present to give demonstration of Chinese brush techniques and calligraphy.

Chinese Papercutting [Ages 5+]
In addition, David joined Idea Store for a fun afternoon of Chinese papercutting. The public was invited to learn how to master the art of this Chinese tradition.

This one-day workshop was attended by 10 adult beginners. After introducing Four Treasure of the Study 文房四宝 , David gave the students a demo on brushstroke techniques, ink laying, outlining, composition and calligraphy. Similarities and differences between Chinese style and Western style of painting were discussed.

Followed by a series of exercises and practices, each student was invited to compose a final painting of bamboo and panda, completed with their Chinese translated signature. Click the below link to see some impressive paintings from the students on the date.
