Anoushka Chatterjee
I am very proud to present my 8-year-old art student, a rare talent with a promising future. I met Anoushka and her mother Sudipta at my debut art exhibition in February 2018. Sudipta, an ambitious IT consultant, approached me if I could teach Anoushka art. “She draws all the time at home!”, Sudipta exclaimed earnestly. Instantly this has reminded me of what I was like when I was at her age, passionate about art, and hungry to learn more.
I was hesitant to accept it at first. Then Anoushka’s father, Manas, who is a VP at an investment bank and an incredibly gifted photographer, turned up to see me. Their sincerity convinced me that this is a special girl and a very lucky girl too with supportive parents.
Anoushka’s potential shone through from the first lesson. We started with a pencil sketch of an egg, which can be boring to many kids of her age. However, she had this amazing quality of concentration and took in every word I said.
I am particularly impressed with her earlier artwork. She drew almost everything, with good sense of proportion and colour. She drew little people with speech bubbles. Some are very witty and humorous indeed. Anoushka is extremely quiet when she paints and it is not easy to read her mind sometimes. However, it is like within art she has found a way to express her inner voice. I find it very refreshing to see the vision from an 8-year-old.

It’s really mesmerising! She has proved that talent knows no age by sketching and painting life on canvas. Even a little hand of seven years old can do wonder. I have seen her talent and feeling extremely proud to say that she weaves spell through her little hand. I would like to give abundance of gratitude to my universe for giving my little princess abundance of creativity and talent.
